Prior to qualifying as a barrister and mediator I previously setup, grew, and sold three technology start-up businesses of my own. One was involved in a complex commercial dispute that settled at mediation. The combination of those experiences makes me unique in being able not only to understand the legal issues involved in a dispute, but also to get behind them to assist parties identify lasting, workable solutions for the future.
An example of this is one mediation I conducted between a supplier and a large blue chip technology client. The mediation started with a bitter dispute and ended with supplier being granted a new two-year contract to provide services! There’s no way that would have happened if the two had continued their path to the Courtroom.
I understand much better than most, the commercial imperative behind the swift and successful resolution of commercial disputes that can cause disruption to a business. This business acumen, combined with in-depth legal expertise, provides unique benefits to clients across a range of legal areas including commercial and contracts, employment tribunals, shareholder disputes, intellectual property, and insolvency.
As a mediator, and more widely, very concerned about my impact on the environment, I have signed the Green Pledge of the World Mediators Alliance on Climate Change. Click here to read the full details of the pledge and for more details.
“Thank you so much for yesterday, you are without doubt the best. I am so grateful that you persevered”
“sensitive and professional leadership of the mediation”
“I heard today that you were great! …it is great to be proven wrong [that the mediation would be unsuccessful]”
“thoughtful, observant and a positive contributor to the process”
“a diligent and reliable professional”, “invaluable”, “perceptive, thorough and inclusive”.
In addition to my core specialism, I have also conducted a wide range of mediations with other subject matters including amongst others family business, commercial contract, landlord and tenant, deposits, unlawful eviction, debt, unlawful interference, utilities redress, debt, professional negligenc, director’s guarantees, director/employee, workplace and employment compromise agreements.
“Robin puts wanting to find a solution before anything else, I wish I had met him four years ago.”

The earlier you instruct me in the process the more value I can deliver.
Clients often ask me whether or not you can refuse to mediate if it is suggested by their counterpart. Click here to read my article on whether or not you can refuse an offer of mediation.
